Hello, and welcome to the Trinity High School Art program. Let me introduce myself to you and to your student(s). My name is Joshua Smith and I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2003. This is my forth year teaching in the public school system. I teach High School and Middle School classes, which go from 6th grade to 12th grade. In my art classes, we cover all kinds of materials and subject matters. Our curriculum usually starts with the community fair, and my students participate in the community fair art competition. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, this year the Trinity Fair Art program will not happen. We will, however, participate in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art. This program is essential for our students, in that it gives our students a chance to go to the rodeo in Houston if their art piece places. This is a great opportunity for our students and our community. After the completion of the rodeo art, we switch gears and we start studying about what art is, and how it affects our lives. We experience all types of art materials and/or mediums, and we experiment with all sorts of ideas and thoughts. This rooster is an art piece that was entered for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art. It placed 1st in the art competition for the HLSR. This art piece was completed by one of my many talented students in my art program.
